Story:
Recent research shows a connection between kidney diseases and problems of the brain.
Particularly, patients with poor kidney function experience difficulties with remembering long lists of words and numbers, while some patients who are on dialysis due to having no kidney function can’t remember even a date or a year.
However, we don’t fully understand the reasons behind it.
Within the CONNECT COST Action, working group 4 compiles data from large research studies of brain imaging and studies of usual care where people with kidney disease were diagnosed with dementia.
Working group 4 has convened world-class experts in medicine and data analysis to investigate the problem by thoroughly processing the data we have and the data we’re constantly collecting.
Working group 4 discusses these big-data results and designs new studies to address the remaining open questions by convening meetings, carrying out webinars, and performing dedicated teamwork.
Working group 4 will continuously collect and thoroughly process the data to advance the research.
