Story: My name is Carlos Samaniego. This is my story. They say there are only two things certain in life. Death and taxes. My journey involves both. As an EMT/medic working in an ambulance for 11 years, I saw my fair share of death. The lump in your throat. The smell of blood. The cries of loved ones in desperation. When people need help, their fear is palpable. Then one day, I lost my license to drive an ambulance. I was now in the 30-something jobless abyss of deciding what to do with my life.
On top of that, I hadn’t filed or paid my taxes in 8 years. When I got engaged, I didn’t even tell my fiance the IRS was after me. How one can become a tax evader and skumbag at the same time is easier than you think. Eventually, all my secrets came out. My mentor, Ernie, who had helped me with my tax problems, suggested the strangest thing. He said I should consider solving tax problems as a career. Really? But there are so many more interesting things! So I tried marketing, network marketing, real estate, and even becoming a minister. Anything but taxes! What hurt most was my own son not being able to say what kind of work I did at his Career Day at school. I was overworked and exhausted. Until one day, with my wife’s blessing and Ernie’s wisdom ringing in my ears, I decided to focus solely on the tax industry.
I dedicated myself to training. I transformed myself from an unfocused opportunity dabler to a true entrepreneur. I found Pronto Tax School among others who taught me the secrets of the tax game, became an Enrolled Agent licensed with the IRS, as well as became an author and speaker. What a life changing transformation to go from tax evader to tax problem solver for those in immense financial fear and pain!
I had finally found my new career, my new calling, and realized I was right back to my original passion. To help people face death and taxes.
