Story: Sabrina is excited. It is her first time visiting her new friend from school, Melissa. They are going to work on a school project together. Sabrina knocks on the front door and Melissa swings it open with a big smile.
“Hi Sabrina!” (says Melissa).
“Hi Melissa, I can’t wait to get started on our project!” Sabrina follows Melissa inside the house and up the stairs.
“We can work in my room,” Melissa says as she pushes open her bedroom door. Sabrina steps inside. Melissa’s room has a lot of fancy stuff.
Sabrina says: "Wow, I love your room!"
Melissa replies: "Oh, thank you!". While looking around at everything, Sabrina pulls her school backpack off. She feels it bump into something. Sabrina turns quickly to see a statue from Melissa’s desk crashing to the floor and breaking.
“Oh, I am so sorry!” Sabrina exclaims.
“I didn’t mean to bump it.” She bends down and begins to pick up the pieces.
“I got that for my birthday last year,” Melissa says. She sounds upset.
“My grandma gave it to me.”
“Let me take the pieces home,” Sabrina offers, feeling very bad.
I will see if I can fix it.”
“You don’t need to do that,” Melissa replies, her voice sounding softer now.
“It’s the least I can do!” Sabrina pulls a bag from her backpack and carefully puts the broken pieces inside.
“I am really sorry.”
“It’s okay,” Melissa answers.
“I know you didn’t mean to do it.” Sabrina looks up at her new friend and sees a kind smile on Melissa’s face. She begins to feel a little better. She puts the bag with all the pieces in her backpack.
“Why don’t we get started on our project?” Melissa asks.
Sabrina nods, and says “Great idea!”.
Then, the two friends sit down to work on their school project together. Sabrina feels grateful that Melissa accepted her apology. She hopes they will always be good friends.
