A model sheet is a document used to regulate the characters in an animation film, a comic, or a video game. A model sheet shows how the animation characters relate to each other. The model sheet is also known as character board or character study, or character sheet. It regulates the characters’ pose, appearance, and even gestures. The rough character concept model sheet helps the animator show the character’s varied behaviors, moods, and attitudes. It also highlights how nature is relating to the rest.
The model sheet is a critical requirement when the producers of the animation are many. It helps in coordinating characters from scene to scene. That is assists the character to have a sense of continuity all through the film. It is part of the documents called the visual style guide. Which can either have detailed, or it can have a few items.
Where is the model sheet mostly used?
A model sheet is popular among the visual arts segment. A model sheet includes character poses, characters’ actions, feelings, face shapes and expressions, and unique costumes. It can contain more, depending on the complexity of the film. Several famous cartoons use model sheets. Examples are the renowned Sponge Bob Square Pants, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Edd Ed and Eddy, beetle juice, etc. Dreamwork and Disney are animated film studios that use model sheets. Model sheets assist character animators in finding the final model that is in their head, no matter the difficulty.
Where else is the term model sheet used?
The model sheet has no other alternative use or no other alternative use. It is just that, a character sheet in the field of visual arts. The term’s only use is in the animation department.
